My latest quilt was a pieced background with flowers appliqued on it. The pieced background was based on a quilt in the Quilters Companion Quilts from Precut Fabrics. However I did not complete all the quilting as per the instructions and I used a different design from an American Quilter for the applique. I am quite pleased with the result.
I love this quilt! The appliqué is just so beautiful and looks great on your pieced background.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to add "pop" to black and white fabrics! Love the applique and you SHOULD be "quite pleased"!! Wonderful quilt.

The background was pieced using instructions in Quilters Companion Quilts from Precut Fabrics - it was a quilt as you go quilt. The large flowers were from a pattern in an American magazine. It was a design for a small wallhanging and I simple enlarged and enlarged it until I was happy with the size. I used needleturn applique to add it to the background and then machine quilted around the flowers, leaves and stems. Hope this helps.
DeleteLove the combination of colorful applique on the monochromatic background. Nice job.

ReplyDeleteI would love to make this quilt for my daughter....can you tell me what the finished size is? I would need it to be a queen size or slightly larger for overhang. Also can you tell me what you used for the back side? I would love to have a pattern for this as I am new to quilting. Any information you can give me would be very helpful>
