It has been quite a while since I added anything to this blog. I have been busy doing hexagons for my current project. However, I needed a break and while waiting for the repairs being done following an unfortunate 'flood' thanks to the washing machine, I have been doing some crochet. Beanies (large to very small for premmie babies), a small dilly bag (from string) and a tea cosy. The tea cosy was very easy to do although it looks complicated.

Almost Christmas
The Christmas tree is a brooch. I have made some of these for CQs to sell at the November fair a few years ago, but never one for myself - so here it is. The stocking is for our annual Christmas swap. They are both quite small.

GRUMPY CAT
I received Grumpy Cat fabric for my birthday early this year and I have finally used some of it to make a craft bucket for myself. I make these to sell at the CACA fairs and they usually sell. This one is 10 inches square each side and base - fairly big (I'm sure I can fill it) and I have used foam interfacing on the lining to give it stability. The second pic is with Bertie - some help you can do without!!!

ANOTHER BAG - TWO FOR ONE
Raining - good day for sewing. I made this bag, pattern loaned from a CQ friend. It is two bags in one, handy if you buy more than you expected!!

Hanging Storage 'Bag'
A friend at CQs loaned me an English quilting magazine with this bag in it - a useful storage idea. I made this one for my grand-daughter. I have also reduced the size of the pattern, however I have yet to make a smaller one.

ALMOST THERE
Almost completed ready for CQs quilt show at the end of this month. A fun quilt from a pattern in a quilting magazine back in 2003. It is foundation pieced and machine quilted. I have added some embellishments. It is quite large appox 80 inches square.

CQs applique BOM
Applique BOM by Caloundra Quilters - I used Batik fabrics on a black background. Buttonhole stitch used for the applique and I machine quilted 'stitch in the ditch' and hand quilted around the applique.

Neck Pillow for Star Wars Fan
I have made this neck pillow for my son-in-law who is a fan of anything Star Wars. It is a little large than I usually make them - I used the cutting line for the sewing line - not intentional!

CHRISTMAS BIRD
I made this Christmas bird as a gift for my hairdresser - I usually make her a small decoration each year.

TOTE BAG
I found this piece of sashiko and the Japanese fabric when looking for something else last week. I had purchased these back in June 2010 when I visited Ipswich to view a display of historical quilts on a bus trip with CQs. On our way home, we stopped at a home in Forest Lake where we were able to enjoy a little bit of retail therapy. I had intended to make a tote bag with these and finally it is done! (The colour was a darker blue than in the photo - I used black thread to sew this bag.)

FINISHED!
I finally finished the crochet table centre I started a few months ago - feels good. The Japanese lady wall-hanging was made from a pattern given to me by one of CQ group who had got it from the sale of the sewing goods from a member who had sadly passed away. I had seen printed panels much larger and had wanted to try it only the panels were too large for anywhere to hang in out home. I have reduced it and made it more to a size I liked. It is completed by machine applique with hand embroidery. Cherry blossoms have been free-motioned quilted in the background.

Cushion and Garden
I made this cushion from a pattern in Quilters Companion No 78 with fabric I had bought from the sale of fabric from a member of Caloundra Quilters who had sadly passed away - I am calling it Del's cushion. The flowers are from our garden. I have added the CQs applique BOM - three so far.

MY LATEST PROJECT
A picture of the blocks for my latest quilts - ready for machine applique. The quilt has a large centre block and I am unsure if I will add it - need to give it a lot of thought.

Cushion using Mini Quick Curve Ruler
I made a trial block using the Mini Quick Curve Ruler - not perfect - however I decided to make it into a cushion. The small block on the back of the cushion was one I had 'goofed up'.

A very old UFO finished
Here is a UFO I have finished last week after it spent many years in my UFO box. The pattern appeared in the AP&Q magazine in 2001 and I would have made it around that time! I am very pleased
how it has turned out.
